I am a poet, essayist, editor, and college professor. When I’m not writing or teaching, you can find me renovating my vintage Airstream camper, taking photos, kayaking, or managing Five Oaks Press.


News & Events:

  • I served as one of three editors (with Jennifer Spiegel and Susan Allspaw Pomeroy) for the book Dead Inside: Poems and Essays About Zombies, which was published by my new imprint Foiled Crown Books.
  • I’m delighted that out of all the poetry books that won at the state levels across the U.S., my book, The Clever Dream of Man, was selected by the National Federation of Press Women as their 2016 second place winner. I’m extremely honored that this book has found such wide critical acclaim.
  • My book, The Clever Dream of Man, won 1st place in the Connecticut State Press’ literary awards contest and will advance to the national competition of the National Federation of Press Women.
  • I’m delighted to have been selected for both a Vermont Studio Center writing residency and a Sundress Academy for the Arts Writing Residency for Summer 2016.
  • My poem “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” was a finalist in the 2015 Rash Awards (judged by David Kirby) sponsored by the Broad River Review of Gardner-Webb University.
  • I’m participating in Tupelo 30/30 for the month of January. Make a donation to join in on this “poetry marathon” where I write a poem a day for 30 days!
  • I’m offering a Poetry About People workshop at the Thrall Library in Middletown, NY: December 12, 2015 from 1-3 p.m.
  • My first poetry collection, The Clever Dream of Man, is featured in the Lithub’s collection of debut poetry features for 2015.
  • My book launch party for The Clever Dream of Man will be held at Keys on Kites, 869 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, CT on Saturday, October 17th at 7:00 p.m. Brendan Walsh will be opening with a reading of his poetry.
  • I will be reading from my new book, The Clever Dream of Man, at Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) on Saturday, October 10th at 1:00 in the lobby outside the bookstore in Dewar Hall.
  • I was featured as “poet of the week” on the Poetry Super Highway for the week of April 20-26, 2015. Happy National Poetry Month!

  • My photographs of the Delaware River will be for sale in the Wildlife and Waterways exhibit in Orange Hall, SUNY Orange campus, Middletown, NY, from October 16th to November 23rd, 2014. Proceeds from the sale of my photos will go to support student scholarships.
